A nebulizer is a device that turns liquid medicine into a mist. The nebulizer is usually connected to a machine that pushes air through the nebulizer. The air helps turn the medicine into a mist. As your child breathes, the mist of medicine goes into his or her lungs. When a nebulizer is used, it is called a breathing treatment or nebulizer treatment.
  1. Soak the mask, top piece, and medicine cup in a vinegar and water solution for 30 minutes or according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
  2. Let it air dry in a clean, cool place.
  3. Wipe down the compressor and tubing with a disinfectant wipe. Do not submerge them in water.
  4. Change the air filter every 6 months or according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
